The Silica Gel Direct High Performance (HP) Container Desiccant is used to protect cargo from moist damage during shipping and storage.
How the high performance container desiccant works
The container desiccant is activated once it is removed from its carton. The desiccant will then immediately start to absorb moisture from the surrounding air. The bag contains calcium chloride and a modified starch. Calcium chloride, CaCl2, is a salt of calcium and chlorine and is very hydroscopic. The starch is used to hold the water once absorbed. As the desiccant absorbs water it will turn into a dough like substance. Once the water is captured it will not escape.
Performance
The absorption capacity of our high performance container desiccant is more the 300% of its weight. Even at low humidity levels, it has the ability to effectively protect cargo throughout the entire voyage.
